Nestled in an area of outstanding natural beauty, this site called for the lightest touch on the landscape. Three new homes, designed under biophilic principles, aimed to reconnect their residents with the natural world.
The concept of ‘A Clearing in the Woodland’ highlighted the beauty of the area and seasonal shifts while also creating an invitation to wildlife.
Set over several acres the masterplan included a birch grove with woodland underplanting, seasonal pond, wildflower meadow, softened ancient woodland edge, courtyard gardens, terraces, internal glass atriums and focal plantings through picture frame windows.
A watercourse was created, with guidance from a Feng Shui expert, to take in the energies of each property. Naturalistic planting welcomed in the common areas while undulating bunds gently created privacy for each home.
